How Raising Kids with Strong Self-Esteem


Self-steam play a important role in our lives, helping us to archive a fulfill live of happiness and success. A child's environment, including their home, neighborhood, and school, has a significant impact on their self-esteem. But how we can manage to help our kids to develop strong self-steam?


Understanding Self-Esteem


Self-steam is a feeling about ourselves and is not a rational thinking. Build a strong feeling of self-worth, self-confidence, and self-respect through ourselves is a consequence of our experimental learning system. We don't born with a system of believes, we build it up from our every day experiences. From the younger ages, we observe the reaction of our parents to our actions, ideas, creations... Our first learn system is sensory. Babies and young children primarily experience the world through their senses, making it the first and most crucial learning system in early childhood development. A strong foundation in sensory processing is crucial for later skills like language development, motor coordination, and social interaction.

We will adding a system of intrinsic connections in our brain that will build our emotional structure for life.

Building a Positive Environment


In my experience like a teacher, I got in contact with students with lower self-steam and it was clear the voice of the love ones they have inside their head. Some times a mother, father or even a friend, teacher or a nanny... The loud is this voice, the harder is to them to overcome it.

Positive environment on early ages helps kids to build a strong believe system. It is very important for the future success in life.

But what are the characteristics of one positive environment?

  • Open communication: allowing children to express themselves. their ideas and feelings.

  • Supportive home atmosphere: encouragement children to experiment new challenges and demonstrate you believe in their abilities to solve it. Do not set limits to their ability to solve problems.

  • Be aware of your actions. Your way to solve problems and reacted to frustration is being observe by the infants. They learn from watching us.

  • Demonstrating self-love and acceptance can shape children's views.

  • Sharing personal experiences of overcoming challenges.

  • Choose movies, cartoons, telling stories that are inspiring.


Encouraging Independence and Responsibility

Some times parents overprotect their kids. Overprotection gives them the feeling of insecurity not the self-confidence.

  • Let your children experiment challenges.

  • Let your children experiment decision-making situations.

  • Help them understand that mistakes are part of everyone life. This can be made using story telling of grand inventors.

  • Assigning simple household task age appropriate. Like organizing toys, have them help you with more complicate task. (They will love the fact you trust in them to help you out)


Praise , Recognition and social skills


It is important to recognize the children achievement as teach them recognize and value the achievement of others.

  • Highlighting every effort rather than just results cultivates perseverance.

  • Avoiding over-praise to maintain authenticity. Children can ready our reactions and they know if we are being authentic.

  • Recognizing individual strengths and talents.

  • Talk about the life of challenge life of scientists, sportsmen, business mans and woman. Show how they persist and try again and again until success.

  • Listen your child. Active listening improve your understand of your child feelings, as shows empathy and understanding.

  • Looking for partnership do not show debility. Help them understand that is okay ask for help, divide the work to accomplish it.

  • Teaching good values from early ages. Respect and empathy enhances social competence.

  • Let them talk about their experiences, and feelings related to bullying empower kids.

  • Encouraging assertiveness while practicing conflict resolution.


Promoting Physical and Mental Well-being


it is know how some activities positively impacted the development of self-steam.

  • Engaging in sports or physical activities enhances self-image.

  • Engaging in artistic activities stimulates self-awareness, self-confidence, self-discipline, concentration, help fosters inner strength.

  • Art practice explore feelings and help kids to express it even

    if they can not verbalize it.


Conclusion


The development of high self-esteem is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children. Understanding normal childhood behaviors, so we will have a better understanding and realistic expectations of our child’s capabilities at different ages will help us to support our kids.


We can choose enroll our kids in activities that will:

  • Help then explore their emotions and ideas.

  • Teach then alternatives ways to express it,

  • Stimulates self-awareness.

  • Develop self-respect and confidence.
